Sustainable Timber Furniture, Built to Last
Sustainability is at the heart of everything we do at Bombora. From the way we design to the materials we choose, our aim is to create furniture that lasts for generations while minimising our impact on the environment.

Our solar powered workshop
For most of the year, other than the depths of the Victorian winter, our factory is entirely run on solar power. This means that every piece of furniture crafted, every email sent, every coffee made is powered by the sun!

Our suppliers
At Bombora, we prefer to collaborate with local family-run businesses to source materials for our furniture. This helps to create local jobs and reduce travel miles.
Steel table legs: Manufactured in Melbourne by a family-run metal fabrication business that shares our love of quality design and construction.
Stone: Located in Geelong, Platinum Stone creates custom non-silica stone tops for our timber vanities.
Recycled Timber: Located in Geelong, the Timberzoo team sources the reclaimed timbers used to create our recycled Messmate timber furniture.
Sustainable Timber: Located in Melbourne, the Mathews timber team supplies us with sustainably sourced timbers such as Tasmanian Blackwood and American Oak

Giving back
In 2015 we launched our 1 piece = 1 tree initiative whereby we plant a tree for every piece of furniture that we create. 15 trees is a fantastic non-profit organisation that enables businesses and individuals to offset their carbon emissions by planting trees on their behalf. So far, our trees have been planted in the Bellarine Peninsula, Wangoon Victoria and Flowerdale.

Sustainability for our team
The way that our people work needs to be sustainable, balanced and healthy. Our staff members time and energy is a precious resource that is very important to us. Rather than having fixed hours of work, our workshop team has a fixed amount of work to complete in the week and once it’s done, they’re done! We believe that when the surf is good or the golf course is calling… work can wait!
